Mike has more than 25 years of sales, consulting and management experience in the areas of non-qualified executive benefits, wealth preservation and key person insurance. He has worked with both public and privately-held companies representing a broad cross-section of industries including chemicals, health care, life sciences, textiles, financial institutions, and private equity.
Prior to becoming an independent advisor, Mike was a Managing Director and Executive Benefits Practice Leader for a large privately-held property-casualty broker in New York and spent more than 14 years in executive benefit sales and consulting for Marsh (formerly Johnson & Higgins) in Princeton, NJ. Earlier in his career, he worked in sales and consulting roles for a major mutual life insurance company and two privately-held brokers that specialized in the design and service of non-qualified executive benefits, 401(k)s, ESOPs, and personal insurance plans for family protection and wealth preservation needs.
Mike received a B.S. Economics (with a major concentration in finance and insurance) from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. In addition, he has earned the Chartered Life Underwriter designation through The American College in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania.
Maria Barnes Kurowski – Project Leader/Operations Advisor
Maria has more than 20 years of consulting experience in business development, project management, business process redesign, financial systems implementation, and knowledge management. She has consulted to both publicly-traded and privately-held companies across a wide range of industries including entertainment, technology, automotive, retail, and publishing. Her broad-based perspective helps ensure that our business processes with clients and partners are efficient and that technology tools are fully-leveraged to enhance our client advisory and service capabilities where possible.
Maria spent more than 17 years in consulting as a Senior Manager for Deloitte and Touche, a Consulting Manager for Platinum Software Corporation, and a Senior Consultant for KPMG. Most recently, she has applied her consulting and project management skills to support a variety of not-for-profit organizations.
Maria received a B.S. in Systems Engineering from the University of Virginia with dual concentrations in Computer Science and Management Information Systems.
